Today, we bring you an interview with our borrower Francisco, from Lara, Venezuela. Francisco has found his niche in the artisanal soap industry, specialising in the online selling platform MercadoLibre. With the funding from his (still ongoing) loan request, he aims to expand his current business. You can access his loan request here.
B: How did you find out about Bitbond?
F: I found out about Bitbond through Facebook. I was very curious to see what Bitbond had to offer. After searching on Google for reviews and not finding a single negative one, I decided to give it a try.
B: Can you explain what your business is about?
F: In a nutshell, we make soap from vegetable oils, mainly soy, palm and coconut, then we turn them into a base and afterwards that base is reprocessed by heat.
Currently we have a wide variety of clients who range from hotels to wholesalers and the general public. Our main selling outlet is online, through Mercadolibre. We produce some 4000 small and around 500 regular (100gr) soap bars a day.
B: What platform do you use for your online business?
B: What do you sell?
F: Mainly soap and other beauty products.
B: How did you get into this business?
F: I’m a chemical engineer and here in Venezuela there’s a big demand for products that people want to have but that require time and skill, like artisanal soap.
We are going through a time where people want to live healthier and purchase things that are as natural as possible.
B: What’s the current situation for eCommerce companies in Venezuela?
F: eCommerce is booming in Venezuela. You can find almost anything online, particularly through Mercadolibre.
B: Do you think there are enough ways to finance a start up online company in Venezuela?
F: I don’t think there are many credit opportunities for online entrepreneurs and start ups in Venezuela.
B: Why did you decide to get a Bitbond Loan?
F: I think bitcoin is aviable new way of financing my business.
B: Can you tell us what the aim of your loan is?
F: The loan will be used to buy machinery and raw materials for my business, such as induction burners, steel pots, oats, exfoliant, sulfur, lard, some plastic racks and more molds.
