Tech Open Air, the world’s leading tech festival, came to a close on July 17th. The end of the festival signals three action-packed days filled with networking, learning and educating for the Bitbond team. The 185 volunteers and 110 international speakers did a fantastic job and made this years Open Air the best so far, so a huge thank you to them. With over 5000 people registering for the festival, the diversity of the crowds was beguiling and it was a pleasure to meet so many interesting entrepreneurs.
This years satellites were particularly intriguing for Bitcoin and Finance lovers. Kicking off Bitcoin at Tech Open Air was the European screening premier of Bitcoin The End of Money As We Know It. Torsten Hoffman and Michael Watchulonis, the films directors, have done a fantastic job tracing the history of money from the bartering societies of antiquity to the trading floors of present-day Wall St. The film received great acclaim from the Tech Open Air audience and the evening was a great success.
Bitbond and Bitcoin at Tech Open Air
A day later our event took place. In the spectacular setting of the Hotel Amano, Bitbond CEO Radko Albrecht gave a presentation on How Bitcoin Technology Enables Startups To Innovate Financial Services. Specifically, the talk began with a focus on market entry barriers to financial services and developed into an analysis of Bitcoin’s disruptive impact on traditional finance. Bitcoin’s open source protocol was always at the heart of the presentation however, as Radko explained how bootstrapped startups can use the cryptocurrency to compete with large banks, and to enter a globalized financial market.The evening was brought to an enjoyable end on the rooftop bar with interesting conversations about the future of Bitcoin. Bitcoin – The Future of Money was the final Bitcoin related satellite at Tech Open Air. Bits & Coins hosted the well received event, which provided an enlightening introduction to Bitcoin as well as a highly enjoyable hands-on workshop. The workshop helped attendees, new to Bitcoin, navigate the world of Bitcoin payments and transfers.
