This makes Xero one of the best selling tools online right now, and ranked it 4th in our top 10 bookkeeping software for small businesses.

It has been rated as one of the easiest-to-use accounting systems currently available. There is a range of pricing plans, with the entry level costing just £9 per month, the standard plan is  £20 a month and the premium plan costs £30 a month which includes payroll for up to 10 employees.

2. Magento

Magento is an open source content management system for online stores and is currently owned by eBay. There is a fully featured Community Edition which is free and an ideal solution for small businesses, and an Enterprise Edition which is subscription and provides some additional features along with technical support.

A range of interchangeable themes are available along with a library of plugins that are free to download and use to extend Magneto’s functionality. The package is used by over 240,000 merchants globally and is one of the best known online selling tools around.

3. Auctiva

Auctiva is a tool designed for eBay sellers which assists users in many aspects of managing their sales including the process of posting and scheduling eBay listings; image management; shipping labels; multiple variation listings to include available sizes, colours and other product features; along with advanced features such as live chat and telephone support along with access to a personal account manager who will work with you to optimise your eBay business.

Pricing plans range from $2.95 through to $19.95, and there is a 30 day free trial, unlike other online selling tools.

4. Terapeak

Terapeak is aimed at eBay and Amazon sellers who wish to fully analyze the markets of their chosen platforms.

Channel Advisor is cloud-based e-commerce tool for integrating, managing and optimizing sales across many online sales channels such as eBay, Google, Amazon, Facebook, eBay and more. This makes it one of my favorite online selling tools right now.

Some of its benefits include faster product listing and access to new and alternative sales channels. Sellers supply Channel Advisor with a single product data feed and Channel Advisor does the rest submitting it to multiple market places and feeding information on sales performance back to the seller.

Solutions are available for small businesses with 10 employees or fewer through to enterprise solutions for businesses with over 500 employees.

6. e-Junkie

e-Junkie provides a shopping cart and payment processing solution for online merchants. Users can choose to download shopping carts and/or buy now buttons for selling on their own websites and sites such as eBay, Google Plus, Craig’s List, Facebook, and more. Payments are processed via PayPal, Authorize Net, Click Bank, 2Checkout and TrialPay.

As well as tangible items, merchants can also use the platform to sell digital downloads. Post checkout messages and emails can be customized; there is multi-currency and multi-language support along with inventory management and other features.

Pricing plans are from $5 a month for up to 10 products through to $100 a month for up to 2,000 products.

7. InkFrog

InkFrog is designed for eBay sellers and includes all you need to streamline your eBay business including creating, managing and scheduling listings; image management; shipping tools including bulk printing of labels; discounted shipping insurance; automatic messages and emails; post-sales management; automatic feedback; along with other tools. ShipStation takes all the hassle out of shipping, in fact, it handles all your shipping and import requirements and connects directly to your shopping carts.

It will integrate with all of your shopping channels including your own online store, eBay, Amazon, Google and so forth. You can also use your favorite carriers such as DHL, UPS etc. and take advantage of any discounts you might have negotiated previously; ShipStation also offers discounted carriage costs.

You can customize documentation and include return labels. There is a range of price plans starting at $9 per month for up to 50 shipments on one shopping channel through to $95 a month for 6,000 shipments on 5 shopping channels or $145 for unlimited shipments.

If you are a small business looking for an easy way of generating invoices and keeping track of your incomings and outgoings, Debitoor has a solution. Members get access to a variety of professional invoice templates enabling them to quickly produce and send quality invoices.

They are also able to issue credit notes, payment reminders and keep up to date on payments and outstanding invoices. You can include your own branding too.

Brightpearl provides a cloud based integrated business solution that includes order management, inventory management, customer information, suppliers & purchasing, shipping software, and accounting.

Pricing plans start at entry level for £199 per month which includes 3 users and up to 1,000 orders per month through to professional level at £499 a month for up to 10,000 orders per month.

While the tool is really designed for eBay buyers searching for a bargain in auctions that mainly go unnoticed as nobody finds them, it could be a useful tool for discovering misspelled keywords that could be used to boost sales.
